PLEASANT GROVE, UT – The Utah Scholastic Clay Target Program (Utah SCTP) raised $444,162.02 in 2017 for youth shotgun shooting sports throughout the state of Utah. All raised funds are held in endowment accounts for each team at the MidwayUSA Foundation. Those funds originated from team fundraisers, the matching Program at MidwayUSA Foundation, and quarterly earnings.
A portion of the funds donated in 2017 also originated from a donation of $80,000 to the MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account program from Utah SCTP. That donation of $80,000 is a result of the 2017 matching program where Utah SCTP could match team fundraising dollars that each team has donated to MidwayUSA Foundation’s Team Endowment program through 2017. This donation would not have been possible without the generosity and passion of Larry and Brenda Potterfield, who donated $190,000 to the Utah Scholastic Clay Target Program in 2017. The Potterfield Family initiated a push for youth shotgun shooting teams to be engaged in fundraising and securing the future of youth shooting sports.
“It is crucial for shooting teams in our organization to be engaged in self-preservation and fundraising for them to remain successful. Providing this match was one way we as an organization could add some incentive to engage in fundraising,” Brian Beard, President, Utah Scholastic Clay Target Program.
The current combined endowment account balances for Utah’s SCTP is $1,003,639.07.
Once each year, teams with a MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment are eligible to request a cash grant of 5% of their endowment balance to use for expenses like ammunition, travel, targets, uniforms, entry fees, operating expenses and more!
Additionally, MidwayUSA Foundation makes generous non-cash grants available to Utah SCTP and teams each year. In 2017 Utah SCTP and teams were awarded:
140 Browning Knife Sets
3 Pairs Pilla Shooting Glasses
3 Pairs Leupold Binoculars
